Afshin is a provisional psychologist who is dedicated to helping others improve their quality of life and who works towards creating a supportive and safe space that is conducive to the client's growth and progress. He works diligently in line with scientific evidence that is up-to-date with psychological research. With the consent of clients, he works with allied health professionals and third parties to ensure the best support is attained for his clients, including consultations with board approved supervisors. This is to ensure that individuals are not alone in their journey to achieving an improved mental health well-being and succeeding their goals for therapy. Afshin understands that while most clients who find him could be dealing with serious mental health issues and are struggling to see past their current problems, that nonetheless, there exists a dichotomy in psychology and that is the approach from a positive standpoint. By having an approach embedded in positive psychology and having researched and written an honours thesis on post-traumatic growth, Afshin hopes to guide and inspire his clients to find benefit and to grow from their current situation.

Afshin's clients are adult, and children and adolescents aged 10-18 years. He works with clients who are experiencing, low mood, anhedonia, dysthymia, depression, anxiety, adjustment disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, grief and loss, issues with assertiveness and self-esteem, stress, anger, relationship breakdowns, emotional dysregulation, problems with sleeping including insomnia, and mood disorders. Afshin can also provide cognitive assessments for children and adolescents aged 10-18 years and adults. Afshin employs evidence-based cognitive-behaviour therapy (CBT) in sessions to support his clients and he bolsters this method of therapy by using motivational interviewing and observing the cycle of change model. Afshin believes in the principles of CBT that are, working collaboratively with clients, to provide psychoeducation, and to empower clients to adopt CBT techniques into their life.

Afshin is available on Mondays (telehealth), Tuesdays (face-to-face), Wednesday (telehealth), Fridays (telehealth), and Sundays (face-to-face).
